energy suspension for front control arms?

Ive pressed in poly bushings into my steering rack before, since i can actually get ths control arms off the truck it should be a piece of cake compared the that.

f***ers at firestone wanted to just replace my upper and lower control arms because they said the bushings were bad. I know the ubj boots are torn and squeak, but there is not play in the suspension, except the itres could be done.

also as a side note, im thinking about making a rig that holds my bottle jack so i can use it as a press for bushings and other things, anyone done that before. i think this is what you pretty much get from harbor freight haha.

These bushings are a serious PITA to get out. Pressing them in can be done by hand. There are lots of videos and write ups on it. I would suggest the Whiteline bushings because they come with the sleeves and everything you need unlike the Energy bushings.

do you have a link for the whiteline bushings. I just checked camelback and its about $300 or ($150 if they come as pairs?) for all oem bushings.

basically about the same price as oem, because i live near camelback i can will call. ill probably go oem then, ive heard oem rubber flexes better than poly, but does that even apply for double a arm ifs?

If you buy the Whiteline kit it includes everything you need. One set will do both sides and you do not have to purchase anything extra. I read a few threads where people replaced with OEM rubber only to find they were worn out again in 10-20k miles. But rubber is indeed softer than poly, not sure why flexibility here would be a good thing though.

i used oem bushings in mine. wasn't all that hard to replace. my factory bottle jack did break in the process, but i had my stronger bottle jack on hand (i think 10 ton could be wrong) and it popped the remaining ones out like butter.

i did not torch anything or pre soak with anything to try to loosen them up.

Yep I am using those same bushings ordered from toytech. I highly recommend them and toytec. Been about 4 months since i installed them and no issues and holding up fine to sand and mud. The old rubber is a pain in the @$$ to get out but well worth the hard work.
pretty sure i can beat that price for upper control arms ect. If you want come by my shop and i can look at your front end and tell you what b you really need replaced. You can shoot me another pm to if you want.

Wait, are you replacing bushings because you think you need to based on Firestone's recommendation, or because you want to even if you don't need to?

Firestone's got one F-upped business model. Brought my T4R in for an alignment several months ago. Told me I needed a new ITRE due to excessive play. I made them keep it on the rack till I got there and asked the tech to personally show me and he couldn't.

I used these and other bushings from Energy Suspension as part of a larger running gear rebuild that I did last year. As many people will tell you they are a lot of work, but I have had no complaints on the 15k miles I have on them so far. However, looking back I should have saved for a couple more months and spent the extra on something like these Total Chaos UCAs and a new set of OEM LCAs. Just my two cents, happy wheeling.

Yeah im not just doing it because they said, ive also noticed a pull to the left when braking, and when i turn the wheel i can feel a bit of play. also wheb i did my ball joint the other day, i noticed the rubber looked old. so its a combination of things. but for $50 and a days worth of work, i think ill give it a shot.
