Engine cleaning

This might be kind of dumb question but what is the best to clean an engine? I have always started with a cold engine and lightly sprayed it down with a hose, then sprayed it with a degreaser like simple green and then rinsed it off. Just curious if you'll have any better ideas.

Here is a link to a great car detailing forum that I am a member of. It was written by Todd Helme who has been rated as one of the top detailers in the country. http://truthindetailing.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=1150&highlight=engine+cleaning

I would start with a warm engine...not hot...and soak it with an all purpose cleaner (like simple green) use an old paint brush or something similar to aggitate the cleaner. Then rinse the motor GENTLY...just use the water pressure not a high presure nozzle. Then I start it with the hood closed and let it warm up to dry. Its not as hard as it seems! Go for it!

Good info on that site.

I've been wanting to clean my engine for a while. In it's 11 years of existing, my T4R's engine bay has NEVER been cleaned and it REALLY shows. Lol.
