I hope this post finds someone who has had the same problem I've been dealing with for the last few months. Well here we go, I have a 92 4runner v6 when I start the vehicle put foot on brake and when I pull shifter into drive the engine will cut off. If I pull the emergency brake and put it into drive it will not cut off. When I try to drive the vehicle down the road as soon as it shifts to 2nd gear the engine cuts off. I have replaced too many parts to list and this is my last resort to find some answers.

I know its been over 10 years but I am so frustrated I am trying everything. My 1990 4runner is doing the same thing. For a year now. I have changed map sensor, throttle positioning sensor, power brake booster, vacuum lines, fuel filter. It will idle just fine then as soon as you move the shifter (no issues with movement smooth as silk) hit reverse cuts out like a light switch, same thing from neutral to drive. I am not able to start it in any other gear than park or neutral. Did you ever find out what was wrong with yours?
