ok will my engine (22r 4banger carbureted) move 33x12.50 tires using the stock gears (4.10)? the rear will be welded (like a spool) and the front will be open. will the engine keep those tires rolling uphill? and what about putting a locker in the front too? will the engine still keep the tires rolling. any help or insight would be appreciated. thanks

You'll be OK.

Many, many, many people run 33's with a 4 cyl/4.10/5 spd setup, I did it for years on my p/u. You will notice some loss of power, but you can live with it. You just may not be able to use 5th gear as much.

A selectable locker is best for the front, but very $$.
Several people I wheel with are using the new Aussie locker up front and like it, and it's fairly inexpensive. I also know people that have full Detroits up front. Any locker in the front will make it hard to steer when in 4WD and hubs locked (that's where the selectable locker comes in handy).

ive driven a few truck locked front and rear and dont find it hard to steer at all. i can feel it pull away but nothing out of the oridnary. most of the guys i know are also running dual cases so when they are going uphill they just toss it into 2 lo. they are locked front and rear as well. dunno if this helps. i would recomend the aussie up front though if u cant afford selctable because i have heard nothing but good things about them..im all about welding the rear though so thats where i stand in the rear, unless u can afford the selectable. hope whatever i just ranmbled on makes sense
