By the way, since I come to my V6 4Runner after a long line of slow and/or underpowered cars/small trucks, I can attest to the fact that the V6 3rd gen 4Runner is not underpowered, but merely adequately powered. To those of you who came to the 4Runner from high performing sedans and V-10 trucks, it may seem underpowered.

I agree with this. My Runner is the highest HP vehicle I've ever owned. That being said, on a '97 with no added weight or traction control, even with my 33's it doesn't take a lot of rain to have this thing break loose in 2WD at stop lights. Turning a corner can be traitorous if you're not careful. Maybe it's the combo of the 4:30 gears and the hard rubber on my retreads, but I can't just drive as carelessly as with my other car in any road condition that isn't dry.

On my 99 Limited it does.

My 2.4 '99 Tacoma did the same thing.

Funny thing is, the engine is only at ~3700, so she'll go faster.

Crazy, now granted the times I have been over 100 have been downhill (and a wind not against me..hehe) But it didn't cut out or jump to go faster either. Now I have no desire to really go faster than the speed limit, amazing how you get older and you change "some"of your life =)

Now was it a manual or auto? I've noticed between my auto currently and my old manual their is a lot of what I feel engine accelerations (can't think of the word I wanna use, so i'll just use that for now). Now I know a manual is 'manual' and auto is whatever your etc/od does for you, but I swear my 5speed was quicker getteruper.

PS - I'm working on inventing words tonight =)
