Engine Issue

So I was driving home from work, and I was stopped at a light on a slight incline. My car suddenly went to ACC (aux power) mode and the engine cut, with the key still turned for the engine on.

I started it back up, and while still at the same spot, my RPMS went from my resting 600; up to close to 800, then dropped down to 300. I had to rev the engine a little bit to get it steady.

When the light went green i gave it some gas, and drove home without an issue.

Started it up just now once the engine was cold, and let it warm up to the normal resting RPM's, and monitored it...didn't do it again.

I was just wondering if this ever happened to anyone, or if it could be a one time fluke? Thanks for any input guys.

Possibly a dirty and sticking IAC valve. I believe I've seen threads about how to clean your throttle body, and IAC valve on here.

Sounds like your complaint if I'm not mistaken:
The engine will not idle on its own. If the throttle is held open, it will run good at a normal idle speed. Fuel trim numbers are good when holding the throttle and keeping it idling. Sets no codes.

This is typically caused by a failing IAC valve.

Here is how you would test it:
1. At the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, tap the Brown/Red wire to ground with the connector plugged in and back probing the terminal and see if the IAC valve opens and increases the idle speed. If not, it will need replaced or some have success cleaning it.

Thanks! It's dark out here now, but in the morning before work, i'll look at it. Don't want to be a bother, but per chance anyone has the part umber for the IAC valve?

Also, I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but i never threw a code.

Thanks again y'all. Love how helpful this sight is

What do you mean by ACC and Aux Power?

The battery light came on?

No, you know how when you start your car there are technically 3 positions for the key. the first turns on the radio, the second turns on all the power (thats the auxiliary) and the third is what starts the vehicle.
