engine light :X

Okay, so I have a question, yesterday I was driving up to the mountain and I noticed something smoking in the back. Well turns out I had a bunch of snowboarding gear stuffed behind my sub box on the amp and the amp was getting hot. Well long story short we pulled over, moved all the shit that was stuffed between the seat and the amp, and were on our merry way. Well as soon as I started it up the engine light came on. I don't know if it is coincidental that it happened right after my amp decided to overheat or if it might just happen to be related. Does anyone know what it could possibly be? BTW I have a 2000 4runner limited with 124,750k

Probably a coincidence.

Disconnect the battery for a minute or two and see if the light comes back on. If it does then get the code pulled and research that.
 
Alright, I have a friend that works somewhere that has one of those diagnostic things, I'm sure I'll be able to get him to check it out.
 
Well, I bought it about six months ago and have put 10k miles on it since. I haven't replaced anything except put in an air filter and a few oil changes. I was thinking I should check the spark plugs but I'm a lame ass and haven't lol.
