Engine noise through speakers

Hey guys...looking for some help.
I did do a search but didnt really get the help i was looking for so im looking for ideas
I just installed driving lights on the runner, they look and work awesome.
But now I have that whining interferance noise consistent with eng RPM's coming throught the speakers.
I did also recently do plugs and wires, now, I know about resistors in the plugs and everything, but this noise didnt start right after the plugs (couple weeks ago)
It started today, after the lights were installed. also (conincidently i think) both frt and rear RIGHT speakers dont work... related?

any idea from the electrician type guys out there?... its F'n annoying and I have a long drive coming up next week...

Not to insult, but check your wiring thoroughly. Bad grounds or shorts can do crazy things that'll leave you guessing for weeks. Pull your center dash and check the wiring harness. It could be your factory amp going out also and more or less melting down inside.

No insult taken, im looking for help...
i was wondering if it was a possible ground issue, just checking to see if this had happened to anyone else, or if it was a common thing.

I grouonded each light seperately to the rad support and grounded the switch to some sheet metal brakcet below the fuse box which looks like it goes directly to the a pillar of the truck with no insulation...

anyone else have this happen or know a common fix?

If it's a high frequency whine, it's from the alternator, not the plugs.
It will vary with engine rpms.
Noise from the plugs is more like a machine gun sound.

A good LC filter on the stereo's power leads should get rid of it, and/or some clip-on ferrite inductors on the speaker wires.

Also, good clean grounds can make a difference.

It's strange that it started with the driving light install, have you tried disconnecting them to see if it goes away?

No, I haven't tried anything yet, just did them today and noticed it driving home.

My truck does this. But it is from my phone since I use my phone with an 3.5mm headphone cable to play music. It only does this when I am charging my phone. I think it's because of the cheap 12VDC->5VDC USB adapter.

even just adding a few circuits in the car COULD cause your issues, the above is the same issue but is only completing the antenna path when the phone is plug into the car's circuit if i remember correctly

i do agree it's odd but RFI is unpredictable to a certain point....your symptoms are classic and the above thread should walk you through it.

I wonder if the length of the power wire to the switch is the culprit...
I ran it to the battery instead of an under dash 12v supply... then from the switch back out the lights... with a short ground under the dash...
I guess I have a few things to check out...

Or the fact that the wires run side by side with signals going opposite ways essentially...?

it sounds like it could be a combination of all of it, but i would think about that ground first , then the wire length and then the signal issue, for the signal issue try spacing the wires out the distance of the diameter of the wire.

i'm just a lowly tech class and have only been doing this for a bit, but that would be my assumptions, haha. the parts listed above are pretty cheap and could be less time consuming than chasing this down to be honest...

Here are some ferrite type filters and a LC power line filter.
I use them in various combinations to eliminate power line noise (alt whine) and RF feedback with various 2 way radios in my vehicles. Another is a feed-thru cap, couldn't find one to take a pic of.

What wire/s would i put those clip on type on? speaker wires? powers? groung?
ive heard of these but never used them
