Hello i was just wondering, when you have your engine running and hood up do you hear a "rakety" noise like something is loose in your engine? I went to the Dealership and they said that it was an oil compartment which was pumping some sort of liquid from the engine to other parts of the car. The noise was the power of the push of the oil? has anyone else had that happen to them? The noise is coming from the back of the engine? BTW the dealer said its normal for all 4runners cuz they're trucks??

I would have to disagree. The oil does not flow at high enough velocities nor does it come in contact with any restrictions that would cause it to make fluid flow noises. The coolant has to flow thru quite a restriction at the thermostat, and it makes no noise! IMO the dealer gave you a line. You may or may not have a problem, but I highly doubt that it is the oil that you hear.
In the future, it would help to state the engine type that you have.

My thinking is because of the multi-valve cyclinders along with Toyota's variable timing feature causing the excess noise. Believe me......as I have mention before.... Toyota would "NOT" be using this engine as its entry level flagship truck engine if there was a problem. (ie..this engine is used in the Tacoma and Tundra truck)! It is the real deal and Toyota used aluminum for a lighter weight. There is a 500 lb difference between the V-6 and V-8 engines.....yet only a .7L increase with the V-8. I personally believe the 4.0L V-6 can be tuned to produce more HP and torque if Toyota chooses to do so!
