Engine oil overfilled?

Im brand new to the forum and I overfilled my engine with (Mobile1) oil today by using 6 quarts when the manual asked for I think 5.4 quarts? Will this little bit of extra oil be a problem? I checked the dip stick and cant really get a good reading either. Any help would be great, thanks!

The first order of business is to be able to read your dipstick. There are threads discussing this. I believe a recent one was titled 5w-20 oil.

Once you can use your dipstick then you should drain out excess oil. Overfilling the oil can have bad consequences. I cannot tell you if 6 quarts would be a problem but it's quite easy - maybe a little messy - to adjust. You can recapture the oil for reuse.

Be careful to keep the drain plug washer on your drain plug if you do this.

The first thing I did was check the dipstick but im not able to get a very good reading, the oil seems to stick to the whole dipstick, even waiting 10 minutes or more.

I agree that you should be able to check the dipstick to see where you're at. That said, 6 quarts in the V6 is no problem if that's really what's in there.

0.5 qt extra wont hurt, but if you want, just open the drain plug (do not take out plug completely) just enough for the oil to drip out, and drain half quart, tighten it a little bit, wipe excess oil, and then, tight it up.

the oil seems to just stick all over the dipstick not letting me get a good reading, even cold. Am I the only one that has this problem of getting a accurate reading on the dipstick?
