Royal Purple oil is over rated but their filters are amazing. Just stick with mobil 1 unless you want a true synthetic then go with Redline.

I like Mobil 1 for the price and ease of finding it. I use it in the engine and tranny. I have Royal Purple in my diffs and t-case.

I like Mobil 1 also. But after some miles synthetic can be a *****. You'll be leaking oil everywhere. I actually run Castrol Syntech with Purolator filters.

Since I always end up with vehicles that have miles on them, I always run Castrol in mine. In my 3rd gen, I run Castrol 10-30 and a Toyota filter. In my older Toyota's with 22r/re or 3.slows, I run Castrol 20-50 and Toyota oil filters

You could put vegetable oil in the engine and it would run just fine. Just change the oil regularly.

With needing to replace at least one set of exhaust valve guide seals on mine, I use Valvoline Maxlife Full Synthetic 10w-30. I love its low NOACK number.

I buy whatever is on sale..... honestly... if you change your oil as per the suggested intervals, there is no need to fancy oil. I've used Castrol, Motomaster Formula 1, Penzoil, whatever I can find that is reasonably priced. I also change my filter EVERY oil change, but also buy the Store Brand.... Motomaster at Canadian Tire Stores.

My truck has over 120 000 miles it, and when I pulled my valve covers... all was nice and clean! ;)

where you get into saving money is the less you change your oil. ive thought about it and i run about 8-10k miles on my mobil 1 (checking the dip stick ever 3K and top off if it has gone down at all). (i add half a quart ever oil change. ) but still the mobil 1 is not black like the castrol was after 5k. thats y i still run mobil 1. but changing the oil less often saves me some money in the long run. ive got 170K

in the 96 4runner i take care of for my brother its got 270K. he uses castrol, im the one who changes it.
