Engine problem(possibly)

I had an experience this past Saturday (Jan. 5th) where I started my 2006 4-Runner and the engine raced wide open, uncontrollably without putting my foot on the accelerator. I turned the engine off and it hasn't done it again. I had this happen once before about 3 years ago with a Nissan Frontier. The Nissan did it while stopping at a stop sign. I shut off the motor, started it again and it raced wide open. Has anyone else experienced this or have I got dumb luck with Japaneese vehicles?

Well the 2003 through current production T4R's are all throttle by wire which rules out stuck linkage. Sounds like maybe a sticky throttle positioning solenoid or a computer problem. You might check to see if it threw any codes.

The IAC (Idle Air Control) motor probably got a high wrong signal for some reason.
