Engine problems

I was wondering if some one can give me some advise on what to do.... I currently own a 2000 Limited edition 4x4 4runner, and I'm having problems with the engine, when ever I drive it for let's say 1 hour on the highway at more less 65mph and after words I take an exit and stop at a light (redude velocity), the engine starts stalling, and it stops, but if I turn the ignition again, the engine does run... but it continues stalling, for more less 5 minutes, when I accelerate the engine, it starts to make explotions & after a while it starts runing smoodly, does anybody have an Idea of wath can be wrong.... no mechanic or even the Toyota service Shop has been able to find the problem....

Take your video camera and record the video and sounds and and your actions and play it for Toyota Service. Are you in a small town or city? This sounds like feedback loop issue to me.

Sounds like an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve issue. Had this on a previous ride. The engine can't idle properly when the EGR stays stuck open. So it may be the valve itself or a sensor that then causes the valve to stay open in error.

like he said. if your toyota dealer did not analyze this go to another dealer. this is easy to check out. your engine still thinks that it is running at highway speed when you come to a stop and "chokes" on it's own fumes. have them do an exhaust test on a dyno.

I'm not familiar with that particular Toy engine but rather basing this on past experience.
I'm leaning toward it being the valve itself. If it was a sensor, I would hope it should throw a code but Raul didn't say anything about the engine light coming on, even intermittently, or the shop finding a code. The valve being stuck won't throw a code but will give a rough idle or stalling. As suggested, find a better shop or replace the valve yourself if you can. Have any other 3rd Gen guys experienced this or know how easy it is to diagnose the '00 EGR?
