Engine problems?

Hey guys, theres something going on with my new 4runner..

It doesent seem to matter what gear im in, but between 2500-3000 rpm something feels rough, and not much power. If I put my foot to the floor it seems to take a a while to get through this rpm range, then after 3k it makes it to redline quickly.

I havent really done anything to the truck, i bought it off the original owner who seemed to maintain it very well. It has about 120,000 miles.

Any ideas on where to start? it seems like an injector/fuel pump problem to me but im hoping its something cheaper...

When was the last tune up? It wouldn't hurt to change the plugs and wires...Do you have a Check engine light? If not I would suspect plugs and wires could help!! I had a similar issue not that long ago...Plugs and wires solved it....If you have a multimeter you can check resistance of your wires to see if one is bad for sure. Otherwise post what troubleshooting you've done and maybe some recent service history if you have it...

I'm going through the same right now. 2000 v6 auto, 85.000 km, I have replace muffler ( lifetime warranty ) 3 times in the last 6 months. Raw fuel is going to the exhaust, converter is ok, checked o2 sensors, maf sensor, put a new computer in to check, no go. New plugs go in on Wednesday, will let you know how I make out. Dealer alraedy charged me over $400 for daignostics, they said rear o2 sensor , but it wasn't !!

You should put your vehicle details in your sig: year, engine, 4x?, mods. Mainly I am curious if you are a throttle-by-wire year ('01-'02).

Put new plugs in, no luck, new wires, no luck, still the same damn thing. What next ??

Another mechanic just looked at my runner, and said he has run across this before and it was the crank sensor.
Has anyone every heard of this or changed theirs, what was the results?

A bad crank sensor usually will give you a hard or no start condition.
Maybe a clogged Cat Converter?
