engine pulling/braking

New to my 07 4Runner.
I notice that from about 25-40 MPH, when my foot is off the gas the truck really pulls back and almost feels like it is dropping down a gear. Is this a normal amount of engine braking or is there something up with my trans?

I dont have DAC on...any other thoughts? Do i just have a tight transmission?

2007 sr5, 70K (only had it for a month, Toyota certified pre-owned)

If I let off the gas on my 2004 and lightly tap the brake going down a hill the transmission downshifts. Why? I don't know but I take advantage of it when trying to coast down a hill without gaining a lot of speed.

Yup, it's normal for these vehicles. Engine braking/fairly low gearing.

Its built into the trans program. It downshifts to keep you the vehicle from gaining too much unwanted speed going downhill.
