When i start up my truck in the morning, My idle is very high. It revs up to about 2000 RPMs and then gradually lowers as the motor warms up. Its been doing this since the day i bought the truck but did not worry because it has not givin me a problem. It does it both in cold and warm weather. Is this normal for a 4runner or is it something i need to get looked at? Any ideas will greatly be appreciated

Yes,almost all cars idle to high til (kinda like a choke on older cars) it's in operating temperature and it get's it there quicker.

Well thats good to know :) . I ask because when i get up in the morning to sart up my truck, its loud with the aftermarket exhaust it came with. Not to mention the clutch fan makes it louder, so i kinda have a tendency to wake up the neighbors in the morning :D

will pull away at idle RPM

RonMaiden has it right-it idles high at startup and will settle down in a few minutes.

My 5 speed will pull itself up my inclined and rock driveway with just a little clutch action to get it underway. (Born to crawl apparently)

Kind of startled me at first-but I am reading that the automatics act very similarly.
