Engine swap 22RE to 5VZ - WHERE IN SOCAL??

I have a 1987 that is getting really tired. I've done everything possible to it besides paint and engine rebuilt - bumpers, gears, interior, lights, differentials, lift, and now I want to replace the tired old 22RE with 260k on it with a 5VZ (I also have a nice 1998 with locker, lift etc). Does anyone know where I can get a reliable and well executed swap done or is someone on the forum experienced and willing to do it?

Yeah, I'm just SO strapped for time - having my first kid in 2 months and trying to move and transfer my job which means opening a new market in Seattle and still keeping everything going in SoCal. thanks for the link to offroad solutions- i thought they were out of business. Guess not....

If you're willing to buy all the required parts beforehand, I would think that any import auto/truck performance shop would be more than capable of doing such an easy swap. The thing with this swap is that everything has pretty much been figured out, and the hardest parts, the modified mounts and wiring, are readily available. No special parts or modifying oem stuff needed here.

Look up performance shops that specialize in imports, they should easily accomplish an engine swap for you and you will probably get a decent warranty on the installation.

Get ready though, this will not be a cheap endeavor! While the parts will be expensive as it is, having someone spend all those hours doing the work for you will run up a sizable labor bill! This will be at least a full 20 hours to to the swap (about 2½ days of work if you have all the right parts ready to go), and with a labor rate of 100 bucks an hour, that's 2 grand right there. I'm probably being optimistic on that number too, it could very well be 40 hours of labor, especially if there's probems with parts or the engine/trans itself!

Yeah, this is about what I was figuring on cost. Value wise though, this doesn't seem like a lot of money. I have a bullet proof rig with the entire running gear replaced in the last 10k miles, plus new suspension etc and no rust whatsoever. Adding the HP and reliability of new(er) engine would make it the perfect rig and give me another 200k. Cost of everything hopefully under 5k for a very sweet vehicle - given the cost of new vehicles that's peanuts and will give me something I can work on and maintain for not much money going forward.

I think I might know who you're talking about haha

Hit up Yota Masters. Not sure if they do that swap, but they do specialize in Toyota mods so I wouldn't put it past them

He's not a shop, just doing it out of his backyard. Not sure how his pricing is now or even if he's doing it anymore since this was 3 years ago.

There is a legit shop here in Phoenix that is very experienced and does great work.
