Engine Swap Question

I have been playing around with the idea of swapping the engine in the my 3rd gen when the current one dies. I was curious on which of my choices would be the easiest (and most badass) the few engines I was thinking of was a 1 or 2jz, a 1 or 2uz, or an ls/350 small block Chevy. I know the electrical stuff would easiest with the jz or uz's, but I'm in love with the sound of a cammed 350 small block. What engine would be the best, and what transmissions would be best with each engine? I would prefer to stay with a manual tranny.

i have a buddy who was an engine mechanic on 18 wheelers, and we have been throwing around the idea of stuffing one of the new Cummins Repower series engines in my 1999 when they come out...

Easy Toyota tunability, probably not as good off road: 1j/2j
V8 from the Toyota family: 1/2/3uz
Cheapest V8 to built/tune: SBC

Your choice. You can stick with your R154 if you go with any of the Toyota engines. SBC transmissions would be better researched elsewhere, I have a feeling there are many options.
