Engine Swap questions

Recently swapped my motor with a 22re that come out of a a celica. My mechanic told me the car motors had less HP than the truck motors. is this true.If so, what the difference. Also the motor does not have location for knock sensor. Do I need to tap a hole for this or leave it off. FYI , I used the wire harness from the truck on the new motor.

You should drill and tap a hole for the knock sensor.
I don't know HP stats on the two engines, you could some GOOGLing to find out.
