will the 4.7 v8 from the early tundras fit in a 2nd gen? i know that it would not bolt up and work would be extensive, but would the actuall engine even fit in the 4runner engine bay? seems impossible :violin:

I wouldn't imagine it would. The 3.0 is cramped enough in the engine bay. That would be awesome though! It would be a real head turner.

yes i think so. a v8 would be cool as hell, and keeping it toyota would be cool as hell, and i am familliar with the engine.

Well I think it would be a very tight fit but I know that Advance adapters makes kits to drop small block chevy and fords into 80's pick-up/ 4Runners. Not sure if the Toyota 4.7 is similar in size to the SB Chevy or not. I also know that some people have put the Lexus V8 in a 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen. Search you tube and you can find the videos.

The 4.7 would be cool, I have been thinking about an engine swap on my 1994 as well and I would suggest the 1UZFE 4.0 lexus V8. Its all aluminum and puts out about the same ponnies as the 4.7 but weighs less. Being a lexus still makes it a toyota as well, if that matters to you. It does to me....

Just food for thought. Let us know what direction you go. PIC to please when you start the process.
