depending on the equipment you have,and your experience. Im a master tech and i would say that this would be a 9 out 10. nothing to modify that i could think of, but you will have to add wire harness, ecu, exhaust, brackets and hoses for ac and power steering pump, and may some other little things to your list.

A while ago I saw a TV Show where they addressed similar questions; one was about an engine swap for some SUV, another was on converting a 2WD car into a 4WD car by swapping parts.
The best answer for both questions was.... just get a different car. Sell what you have, get what you want. Add the extra $$$ and forget about the thousands of $$$ you'll end up spending anyway, the time, the tools, the headache.
For your friend I would recommend the same. There are plenty of 4Runners out there, just get one that suits your friend better. I couldn't think of one reason to go through all that trouble.
