engine swap?

Hey i have a 5 speed 98 4runner with the 2.7L 4 banger in it and i want to drop in either a 3.4L v6 or an 8 cylinder. is this doable? ill be honest i have very limited knowledge on this type of thing so any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can put the v6 with little modification, dont even consider a V8 because you said you know little about this and that would take way more modification and way more knowledge on the subject.


P.S. My suggestion for you to do is to find a low milage (under 90k) 3.4l v6 and put the TRD supercharger on it. THat would be the cheapest, easiest, and safest(because that engine came in T4R no worries at DMV), method for what your looking for.

Look on You Tube and you will find people htat have done the V8 swap and even teh late modle 4.0L V6. However I would agree with JohnD90 if you have to do an engine swap stick with the 3.4 from same year. Would be the easiest. Also if you want more power that 2.7 can put out up to 1000hp if you are willing to spend the cash to do it, but from what I hear 300hp is cheaper and easier to get then with even the 3.4L V6. LC Engineering is a good source.

yeah im starting to think i might just make the existing engine better due to the potential difficulties with swapping
