I have a 2000 4 runner with a 3.4 v6, I was wondering how hard or if at all possible it would be for me to swap out the old 3.4 for a fresher 4.0 v6. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Engine swap?

It all depends how hard you want to work at it and how much coin you are willing to spend on a project like this. Anything is possible. All the electronics I assume will be different. I'm not sure if the bellhousing patterns are the same. Thats just the basics. The best thing to do is to buy a complete donor vehicle that runs good. That way, 1- you know everything works, 2- you have the complete harness(es), ecm(s), and whatever else you might end up needing. That sure would be one heck of an upgrade. Good luck!
