In a bit of a pich here folks-I have a 94 4-Runner with a V-6,threw a rod:bought a 2000 V-6 out of a Tacoma with 50k miles for dirt cheap.
Any Idea on if electrical hookups are a direct plug-in and will I need to put in a different computer chip in?-don't even know where I would find computer chip in vehicle.

Any help on where I could find out what I need to do, to do this swap-or if it is even possible-would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

well it won't plug right in. in our '90, the computer is behind the passenger kickpanel. a side by side comparison should give you a good answer.

Update-

Mike-the tranny I have on the replacement engine is a manual, so it looks like I have to find an auto tranny to do swap;and I also need to get a CPU as well; this along with cost for kit-I will have to wait till spring to do the swap.

So now-I'm looking at fixing the original engine; do you know if I can drop oilpan in vehicle to replace the Rod? Hoping I do not have to replace Crank-we'll see-TIA

Hope You All had A Great Thanksgiving & Happy Holidays Goes Out to You and Yours!

No you would have to pull the engine to get the rod and crank.

Ditto on the holidays.
