Engine whine under acceleration

New noise that my mechanic can't diagnose. Whining, high pitched "wheeeee", under load. Thought it might be the alternator or other bearing but it is not. He says the sound is coming from inside the engine and that I should probably run it over to Toyota. Anyone come across anything like this? 2010 trail edition 77,000 miles

I created this thread a few months ago about a sound pretty much like yours. Read it entirely, if it's the same sound we are talking about, its normal.

Right on. I get the sound in park when I rev the engine as well. Hmmm

Mine has a whine that sounds like my old '97 4Runner after I installed the supercharger.

I just assumed it was because of my TRD intake and/or Borla exhaust since I noticed it after I did those installs. I am interested in what you find out!

Basically what mine sounds like. I was driving my mom to lunch last weekend and she asked what that noise was. Put on Led Zeppelin and cranked it up, then replied "what noise?"
