Engine wont crank after engine swap.

Bought two 1997 SR5 4Runners. 1 5spd with a bad frame, 1 auto with a bad engine. Swapped the engine from the 5speed into the automatic. Trying to start the engine for the first time, the starter wont work. Checked that I have good power to the starter from the starter power cable. The solenoid wire has no power, so the starter won't work. These are my first Toyotas. Not sure were to look. Maybe a security system / immobilizer thing? I moved the tranny around quite a bit during the swap, so maybe I did something to the neutral safety switch?
Looking for some advise.....

Did you swap the wiring harness out as well? Check all your fuses and grounds?

Heres a temp fix u can run a hotwire from the solenoid to the battery to start the starter. I had a 89 yota that had something bad in the wireing it wouldnt kick the solenoid over right and it would work only after about 20 mins of turning key off and on so i said hell with this and i run a wire to the solenoid and to a toggle switch then i turn the key all way over then flicked the swtich till she fired up then i turn the switch off it worked like a charm.

The wiring harness was disconnected from the ecm above the glove box, disconnected from the engine and laid over the left fender. So the original harness stayed with the vehicle. The starter was working with the old engine.
I get no power to the solenoid. I'll recheck the grounds and fuses. I ran out of time Friday to work on this....I manage a body shop and has been picking away at this while I'm at the shop (with help). I the neutral safety switch on the tranny? The shifter was never disconnected, so maybe I did something there?

I dont know about the neutral switch, hopefully someone else can shed some light on it for us. Dbole just had the same problem with his swap. It ended to being the wiring harness. But your situation sounds to me like its a fuse or ground. You could test the starter by doing the jumper wire to the starter to see if it will turn atleast.

Found it. The There is a connector in the wiring harness over the glovebox that wasn't making a good connection. Cleaned everything up, and got it running. Still need to get a few hoses properly connected, but I'm close now. Thanks for all the replies.
