Entune 3.2 update

entune app after 3.2 updates just like a regular app on the play/apple store.

entune app updates are not tied to the head unit settings. those you listed above are for software/firmware updates to the head unit, not entune.

Ohh ok. So the dealer is the only place to get software and firmware updates for the head unit?

You have to install updated (3.2 version) on USB. Then use steps described in this forum to update software. Entune app has nothing to do with this update. One more thing: don't go to dealer for software or Techstream programming. Most have no haziest idea what to do.

1. Format a USB thumb drive using FAT32 and label it 14A
2. Download and copy these files to the USB drive
3. Insert the drive into your car’s USB port and turn the engine on
4. Follow on-screen prompts to install update

it wasn't until update 3.1 that over the air (entune app on cellphone to headunit) updates to the actual apps occurred. before that you had to use the usb method to update entune apps themselves.

once you have 3.2 all entune app updates (Pandora, iheart radio, etc) are done via your cellphone app to your headunit.

usb updates are still required for firmware or base entune software within the headunit to be updated (all the software that is not the apps themselves).

Sort of...As with the above user I updated my entune app suite from 2.1 to 3.2 today after visiting the dealership. They offered to update my system, but forgot to mention that they were going to charge me $170. Uhh yeah, no thanks, not when I can do it myself for free and learn about my "investment".

So, using the entune app on my iphone, my system updated itself to 3.2. No joke. I checked the firmware version before and it was at 2.1. After the entune app update, it is now at 3.2. I completely understand the difference between software and firmware, but I can't explain it other than the firmware was updated...

I tried this but it didn't do anything - is there a way to start the upgrade automatically? I'm on android not sure if that matters tho.

If you go into the settings menu, update software, I believe it shows what version it is in the lower left. I'm not in front of it right now but if I recall correctly that was it. I'll check tomorrow

the above works if you have a entune unit prior to the 2014's.

if you have a 2014+ that has never been updated via usb, you will have a blank history screen.

They must have updated mine to 2.1 at the factory via sst (usb) then because I have a 2014, mid model year and it was at 2.1 when I updated it yesterday

Entune S/W Updates

First time 4Runner owner (2012) ...its a great vehicle... (still have my 2003 Tundra truck...first time here (registered today). Also looking for info on upgrading my Entune S/W...read threads...just wanted to verify steps outlined below for 3.2 update still apply. Thanks!

I tried this as well and nothing happened. I have a mid year 2014 trail with HD radio and nav. Not sure if it works on mine or not. When I went to software info it list 2.1. I would think the 2014's would have came with newer software. I'm hoping this update will make my crashes/freezing up go away.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out what version I have. I guess I'm doing something wrong. I'm sitting in a 2013 SR5 with the entune. I'd love some tips/tricks. Thanks yall.

For me I went to settings and scrolled down to the bottom and selected software info and it was there on the first page. This was in a 14 but I imagine our radios are about the same.

re-read the first page, then you will understand why yours is not updating :)

apparently when I was on my drive to work there was an update for entune, didn't grab a screenshot of the details of the update.

I got an OTA update in my 2014 SR5 during this morning's drive in to work too. From what I could tell from the "Details" page, it added Slacker Radio - I don't remember that being in there before.

Tried to open the new Slacker app, but it always said something like "The Slacker Radio app failed to start. Please try again."

There wasn't a version # listed anywhere that I saw (kinda busy driving...). Once I got to work, I looked through the Software Update screens, but there weren't any updated version #s (same values as I recorded when I got her last summer). Also, the Update History page was still blank.

had the same thing pop up this morning. installed with no issues. haven't had an issue with this phone though. i think a lot of people problems would be solved with a newer/more stable device.
