Entune GPS seems to be "off"

I hope I don't get flame blasted for yet another "OMG Entune sux" thread, but here goes....

I don't actually use the NAV feature, but its on... tracking my every move. So when I look down at my screen, I expect the little arrow thing to be where I expect it to be... and up until now it has been.
But then yesterday, I look down and my NAV thinks I'm trenching yards in the neighborhood 3 miles away! So what the hell?
I get to where I'm going and figure out how to re-calibrate. To my satisfaction all seems well on the way home... right up until I actually see it jump to the middle of nowhere again.

So when I park I start looking and notice when on the full NAV screen there is a little GPS icon in the upper middle left of the screen and it has a red line though it, giving me the impression the GPS is turned off, or at least isn't getting a signal.

Anyone know if there is a "on/off" somewhere for the GPS?

This didn't sound good as what has been described suggests that you are losing GPS lock. This can be caused by the antenna being blocked, the GPS receiver going bad, and/ or the coax cable having a major clink or bad connector crimp.
I'd suggest trying a full reset of the Entune system by removing battery power from it for 10 or more minutes. If the condition persists afterwards, the it would be in to the shop.
Not to worry.... Many of us would like to do more than flame the Entune system.

This happened to me also. A few times. My solution is not use it.

I just wish car makers stayed with making cars and stop messing with software, GPS and such. Just give us a hole in the dash so we can fit our phones, tablets, whatnot in it. We really don't need any of their crap on the dash except maybe their speakers for sound.

That is fine and dandy if you have a data signal on your phone or tablet, but what happens when you don't? A lot of my driving occurs where I barely have a cell signal let alone data.

I am on Android. I don't know what Iphone people do. Check out an app called HereWeGo. They should have an iphone version.

It just downloads the map to your phone and uses the GPS chip in your phone to navigate. You don't need data to use it at all. With this app, your phone just behaves exactly like a Garmin GPS unit. Try it out. And it is free too.

This company is the unit that made the Nokia navigation for Windows Phone. When Microsoft killed Nokia phone, these guys started their own company. The one thing that was good about windows phone was the GPS and these are the same guys.

And also, I always keep a Garmin in the car as a backup. You never know when you'll need it.

We’ve had the entune system in my wife’s Highlander glitch out on us several times. On rare occasion when using the navigation, the little icon that represents where you are will stop following the route and instead just keep going straight on the digital map. Almost always the system will shut off and restart on its own.

Thanks for the app recommendation. The GPS on my German luxobarge is the only thing that has let me down. Replaced some part twice for similar issues to the OP. I didn't want it on my SUV at all and just use my phone.

Recalibrated and it worked for a whole day!

Then, not....

Guess I'm making a trip to the dealership.
I checked and my Entune firmware or SW, whatever it is, is from 2013 so maybe they can update that too...
