Entune messages issue with iPhone workaround

I just don't even try anymore. Just getting my phone paired for music was a hassle. Messages worked for me originally too but then just stopped. I gave up. Hoping the whole multimedia system is reworked on the next gens.

I think I figured my text issue out. As stated above, allow texts to appear on locked screen. Once in your truck make sure your phone is unlocked. Start up your truck and viola, my messages worked for the first time ever! So convenient!!!! LOL

I wish mine was that easy... I've had my screen power down and backup 5x in a row on the way to work today.

I've tried the above mentioned and I still need to "setup messaging" every time I start the truck. It won't see the phone until I cycle my BT power. I know it's tedious but would like it to work as it should. I'm assuming it's the phone and the Apple BT. Thank for the follow up adrawk

The very last post:
OK if you have quick contacts on your home screen or have quick contacts setup while using an iPhone 5-6s it will not work.

Unpair your phone, forget device under bluetooth on iPhone and remove cached data in setup on Entune.

Now start setup of iPhone and Entune as if you are new to system, DO NOT setuup quick contacts on your home screen on Entune, ensure you have notifications turned on iPhone in the bluetooth settings.

I had the same issue initially. What I did was have both the phone and the head unit forget each other, power cycled both devices, and then re-paired them. No issues with messages/Pandora/pairing since then. Hope this helps!

Summary of my battle

I had the same problem as post #1 in this thread. The Siri workaround in post #2 works ok, but has some limitations as noted in that post. I have gone through the "remove phone" from the head unit, "forget Toyota" on the phone, bluetooth pairing again dance a million times only to end up having the same problem. I also tried the uncheck everything, recheck everything game in the messages setting in post #14.

Post #25 fixed my problem. If I have "speed dial" contacts on my home screen, messaging doesn't work. I changed the home screen to 2 panels with music on 1 side and nav on the other (also worked with weather). Then I removed my phone from the head unit, forgot the Toyota on the phone, and paired the the phone. As long as I don't add those speed dial contacts and show it on the home screen, my messages seem to work.

I had issues with messages for a long time. If you have over 100 text messages the system freaks out and does not work properly. I deleted some old threads that were no longer active and have not had a problem since. Now my issues are with Pandora, Requested timed out, please try again.

I did this a few months back and have had no issues with messages since. Thanks! Updated the OP with this solution.

100% fix

After dealing with this issue with my dealer, I'm glad to post what I believe to be an exact fix. Set your screen to use the 2 panel home screen. Do not use the 3 panel screen and do not add any favorites. This fixed my truck 100%.
