Erradic idle

1994 SR5 4runner 3.0L 3vze standard cruise 4WD 140k maintained.
She was always running great, then one day she started idling/surgeing erradically. After a few miles, the CEL came on with EGR code. Installed a new one with both pipes hopeing that would fix it, and had the cel cleared.NOT!:crybaby:
Now I'm throwing parts with no luck getting her back to normal. New wires, EGR, Modulator, Cap, Rotor, Ignitor, *plugs, coolant, oil change, fuel filter, air filter, dashpot, MAF, phyically checked all vacumn lines. I have searched this forum, others, and youtube, and found that others have same problem, but no solution. The Idle screwworks. Put stethoscope on injectors-all clicking great. 3k ago new chain, pulleys, water pump kit, everything great.

Please give Help and Suggestions, so I can also help others I've spoken with.

Very poor performance

Went over all vac lines. Removed TB and CRC'd with tooth brush and blew out all orifaces, but that made no difference. Want to change the fuel filter location, THAT was a bear to get at! Pulled plenom and new gasket & PCV. Still has poor idling and poor driveability. No fuel leaks. :happens:Any new ideas?

cold start
I have a suction tube attached to EGR;. When I remove it, engine smooths out. WTF?
Is this the problem? (vacuumn)

Do I have vacuumn when I should not, or is my EGR valve just weak? (its opening at idle)

I just got a new Vacuum Switching Valve and it is open not closed. Is it supposed to have voltage at start up to keep it Closed?

I suspect my V lines got crossed by the mechanic. My EGR line is on the brown center valve. Should those be going to egr and modulator on the green valve? (veh front)

I had a similar issue. It turned out to be a bolt that I had removed to get rid of an unused bracket. It is drilled all the way thru the intake plenum. Lets it suck air and idle like crap.

Yes, that bracket held the EGR modulator.
THANKS! Your pic of hoses shows me that last year I had a mechanic replace the valve cover gaskets (leaking oil) and he must have repluged
the VRV incorrectly! I paid special attention to the routeing decal under
the driver side hood, and re-routed two lines that were on the three metal
tubes in center under intake.
FIXED THE PROBLEM>>>>>>>>>>>>>:wink2::humble:

Hope anyone haveing a similiar problem reads this and re-checks a mechanics work! Whew! Its been a very long year figuring this out!
