Excessive front end bounce after lift install

I have tried searching and I cannot find the answer to my question. It seems as though most people have rear end bounce. My problem is in the front.

I just finished installing a 3" lift on my 99 T4R yesterday. I have not gotten an alignment just yet as I was hoping to figure out this issue first to avoid having to get another alignment afterward. I installed the following parts:

Front:

I installed everything at my buddy's house and he lives about 30 minutes away from me. When we were finished, I drove home and I noticed an excessive bounce in the front end. It doesn't matter what speed I am going. It rides as though it is sitting on the front coils with no shocks. I set the front coil clip on the 3rd notch up. These shocks are the 4Runner specific Bilsteins, not the Tundra shocks.

I have not taken measurements just yet to see just how much lift was gained but the front does site pretty level with the 8 wraps in the rear.

Pretty sure you have the Bilstein's cranked too high, with a 3" coil they should be on the bottom perch per ToyTec's website.

I guess that makes sense. I was thinking the clip is what set the ride height. But it would make sense that the coil would.

I opted for the Tundra billies with those coils (24-248730) and I installed them on the bottom notch and have no bounce.

Question: what shock cushions/bushings are you running above and below the top plate?
IIRC the bilstiens only come with one shock bushing (unless wheelers bundles bushings with the shocks they sell)

If you're front is level with 8 wraps then you've answered your own question. You need a plate bumper & winch to be on the 3rd perch.

Got it. Changing the clip now. I’ll report back and hopefully close this thread.

Clips changed. Test driving now to get an alignment.

Rides like a dream now. Thank you everyone for your assistance. It’s crazy how much of a difference moving that clip down an inch and a half makes!
