Exhaust location

I'm in the middle of a bumper build ( http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/223769-red-runner-bumper-build.html ) and I had to cut my exhaust off, just aft of the axle before it bends outward to exit the vehicle. I don't see any issues with just leaving it cut off where it's at, but it could be a headache to put back in the stock location due to the hanger and how the bumper mount goes.

So for the question, I am curious if anyone has put the exit tube for the exhaust in front of the rear tire? It might be a little work, I'd have to cut the muffler loose and slide it forward to just downstream of the o2 sensor. So, like I said, has anyone done this? Can anyone see any issues with it?

Just make sure you check your states inspection policies. I know in Missouri our inspection requires the exhaust to exit past the body of the car. If it dumps out under the car they'll fail you.

VA inspections are pretty subjective sometimes. According to that I think I could just cut the exhaust behind my o2 sensor and let it be.

INSPECT EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR:

Exhaust line: manifold, gaskets, pipes, mufflers, connections, etc.
Leakage of gases at any point from engine to point discharged from system.

That's kind of what I'm leaning towards. Didn't know if there were any random difficulties or issues with doing that though

It would require more fabrication but you could go with a side pipe. Side pipes make everything better though.:bounce:
