Exhaust manifold removal

Hi everyone
My name is Jarek and I'm from New Britain, CT
I'm new here but long time read threads and take info from this forum.
Since over year ago I'm proud owner 2002 T4r Limited jade Mica 120k.
few days ago I had chance take totaled 2000 T4r Limited 140k with SC, TRD heders and MAGNAFLOW full exhaust. I just plan transfer all goodies to my truck and then sell other stuff for parts.
With SC is no problem removing and installing but my concern is with heders. It's possible to remove heders ( exhaust manifold ) without pulling out engine ?? anyone do this before ?? any advice.

I think you can remove the exhaust manifold without pulling the engine out. I personally haven't done this but looks from it, you should be able to.

Thanks for answer, yes passenger side looks pretty easy but driver side scary me, there is tight. Do You think I have to remove break pump unit? Another problem is rusted bolts. Looks like PITA job

Pb blaster works on rusted bolts. Spray a lot of that on there and let it sit a day before trying to bust them loose.

so i have a 2000 (not a 01 with the electric booster pump) i am planning on installing headers and have done lots of research on what the biggest problems are.

everyone struggles getting the cross over pipe out of the vehicle most end up cutting the driver side bent in half and removing the pipe in 2 sections.

it is easier with a body lift due to more room. i have a 1.5" body lift and might be able to remove everything without cutting something. you might need to raise the body 2", thats much easier than pulling the engine. 10 bolts and the body comes right off.

if you do it soon, take lots of pictures for me. I plan on doing mine around mid aug when i have more free time.

"Well, it turns out it wasn't so hard after all to get the pipe out. Here's what I did:
1) Remove the CAT pipe.
2) Remove the upper intake manifold. This give you a little more room to reach behind the engine.
3) Remove the exhaust manifolds.
4) Remove the bolts from the rear tranny mount and jack UP the rear of the transfer case. I jacked it up to the point I think I dented my floorpan a little.
5) After you've got all that out of the way you can roll the crossover pipe over the tranny bell housing and out the bottom of the truck, on the pass side. NO CUTTING REQUIRED.

It turned out to be pretty painless and I only needed one beer. It probably took me maybe 2 1/2 hours from start till I got the pipe out."
