Exhaust V8

What kind of exhaust does everyone have with the V8 engine. I do not want something super loud, my wife drives it most of the time and we have a baby. But I want something. Sound clips would be great.

Just looking for single Magnaflow or flowmaster is what the muffler shop said they have in stock just want to know if they sound good at all. Just basic exhaust.

search for threads started by me... I have an exhaust compilation thread I've started for the v8's. It has several good clips on there. If you find more please add them...

I have the Magnaflow 12586 on mine now. It is a full size muffler and gives just a slight bit more performance sound.
I just ordered a Flowmaster 52557 because I wanted a bit more tone out of it without being overbearing. Someone posted a sound clip of the 52557 and it sounds pretty sweet. Check it out.

oh yea! love the sound. i was gonna change the tips but just pulled them up a bit higher instead. i did switch to stock hangers with clamps around em, the ones borla uses always rip.

We just installed my Borla Cat-back today on my T4R and I am very impressed. I didn't want something obnoxious or raspy. It has a deep powerful sound. No rasp at all and not too loud. It is loudest at 2K RPM so I just wont set the cruise at 68mph I have a Volant CAI and they go well together. It did improve power mid-range and up top for sure.

The Borla is a great addition to any V8. It has a nice deep sound and has increased the the MPG on the road slightly. In town not so much because the wife can't keep her foot off the gas.

Magnaflow catback. Looks great, sounds great. No drone, quiet on the highway and at idle. But floor it, and it sounds great. Wife and baby don't complain about it.

I purchased from autoanything.com because they had cheap shipping.

zimm, if you can provide a good sound clip outisde at idle and revving, inside cruising and accelerating with windows up and down I will literally paypal you $5 :D

I am playing devil's advocate. (b/c I have a 50 SUV Flowmaster)

I do not like Magnaflow. I have seen a 5-6 yaer old one so rusted out before (in California) and the packing (fiberglass?) they use inside the muffler (to deaden the 'drone') fades out in time (from my online education) and becomes louder at highway speeds as it ages.

Flowmaster mufflers are all metal design and keeps a more consistent sound over its life.

Cat back systems.....WOW! Those are pricey. I paid 1/3 with a nice tip and side exit with the majority of the stock 2.5" piping still in use.

This may be a thread jack, but I feel it's relevant. Other than the ability to bolt on yourself, are there any advantages of a catback system vs just the muffler?
