Exhaust? What to do?

Ok so I've been to youtube and heard a lot of different exhausts at work.... What do you guys think is the best exhaust for the 3.4l? I am so damn torn and don't know what to do... Give me input and guidance towards the best!

Well of course the "best" persay would be the TRD catback system but not the best for the price.

I would say a flowmaster 40 series or a magnaflow 18"

Trd is quiet at high rpm... I don't like that as I have an intake and it screams at high rpm... I want something to match my intake..

It's pretty hard to tell someone what exhaust to get. Everyone hears and interprets sound differently.

What kind of tone are you going for? Deep? Loud? Semi-loud?

I want loud but not like open exhaust loud.... And sounds good... I heard the cherry bomb vortex muffler sounds amazing but have yet to ever hear one... There are so many choices that's why it's hard. I just didn't know if there was a general census of what the best is.

No, there is not one "perfect" muffler. The popular choices are Cherry Bomb, Flowmaster, and Magnaflow.

I went the Magnaflow route after looking at a lot of options due to the relatively cheap price. I was willing to spend more money but wasn't going to gain any performance and since I didn't care about it being a show piece for $170 it was tough to beat. I will say initially I didn't love the sound but it's mellowed out a bit now that I've put a thousand miles or so on it and I like it.

I have the Cherrybomb Vortex on mine. I personally don't think I'd try Magnaflow. I might give the Flowmaster 40 a shot though.

I see that you're on your phone. I posted a video in my last post. You might want to check that out when you're near a computer.

$170?

Is that cat back?

Technically no, it did not include the 2' piece of pipe from the cat to the muffler or any kind of fancy tip. It did include the muffler and bent tubing all the way out behind the passenger rear wheel. Clean and simple and most importantly, to me, not prone to rust.

I may be one of the few but I don't really care for the Magnaflow sound but as others have said everyone hears sound differently. I have always be fond of the the classic Flowmater sound but I usually get them strickly for sound as I think Magnaflow provides slightly better performance IMO not that you get a lot of performance from a muffler.

Exactly. A muffler isn't going to provide a lot of HP gain.

When most people think of the Flowmaster "sound" it's a deep throaty rumble. I don't think you're going to find any muffler for our engines that will give you that sound. The V6 just doesn't the same as a V8.

I'm not worried about power gain... I work on these things for a living so I know it's always gonna be a 3.4l. It's not charged so I'm just up for sound.

Which vortex did you guys buy? The 88101 is a 2.25" inlet/2.25" outlet but it doesn't specify if the outlet is offset or not. Also not sure of the length. Do any of you remember which one you have?

Flo-Pro.

I just got a Flo-Pro and it sounds really good. Not too loud at all. I has a deep tone and does not resonate when you accelerate. I got it with new piping before and over the the axle with beveled tip for about 200.00 installed. I did not get the magnaflow because 2 shops mentioned that they can be too loud at times.

I got the cherry bomb vortex. I bought it off Amazon and had it welded on. Not long after that, I was gettin a whistle/suckin sound and was convinced I had a vacuum leak. I let my wife drive it past me several times tryin to pinpoint where it was comin from. I was really surprised how badass it sounded as she sped past me. Glad I got it.
Turns out the whistlin sound was a hole the welder missed.
