exhaust

im looking to put an exhaust on my 1992 4runner v6 4 wheel drive SR5. I have searched the forum but didnt find much on what I was looking for so I was just looking around for some opinions. I have got an estimate on a flowmaster dual 2 1/2 inch with chrome tips for bout 400$. I will be looking for more options but right now all I have been looking at are flowmasters and a 2 1/2 inch pipe. should I be looking at something else? a different size? should I stick with the dual? just curious.

what I want is a good, loud sound. Something that will sound good when I idle as well as accelerate, and something to help out with the power, torque, etc. I want it to sound like a truck not a little honda racer.

sorry if something that would answer my question has been posted, I looked but couldn't find anything. thanks guys.

Also, Im not sure about this but I remember reading a post on this forum by someone who was a Toyota technician and they said that a 2 1/4 inch exhaust is the best size for the 3VZE, 2 1/2 inch is too big. Maybe someone could confirm this?

2 1/4 huh? any other opinions

www.downeyoff-road.com has some exhaust products you might want to look at.

Alot of people like to get a set of Downey Headers and then a High Flow Cat with their choice of Muffler and whatever piping you need to fit your new Catalytic converter/Muffler.

I think someday down the road I will get the Downey headers, the high flow cat and probably a Flowmaster muffler (50 series because its not too loud).

2.5" is too big for the 3.0 which is kinda gutless down low anyway and you shouldn't go bigger than 2.25" since you'll need all that backpressure.
