Expansion valve location?

Does any one know where the exapansion valve in the a/c system is located?

I have a 97' and I am getting ready to change the a/c compressor. I thought I would flush the system and replace the dryer and expansion valve "while I'm at it" as recommed, if the expansion valve isn't too hard to get at.

Its located with the evaporator. Seems easy to remove.

When I look under the glove compartment at the bottom of the black plastic housing, is that the evaporator case or the heater core case?

BTW - If anyone expereinces the common nose/bearing failure on their original Nipondenso a/c compressor, I have located a source for a new (not reman) Sanden/Behr copy. The new compressor, dryer and o-ring kit was $215 plus shipping. A lifetime warranty is available on the compressor for $25 extra.
