What do you expect? Clay is a corporate man now. It's all about the sponsors. Toyota and general want biweekly releases and they have to fill it with bullshit and sponsor plugs.

I have to say I'm not entirely impressed so far. 10% of the show is great, but there's too much 'filler'. Hope it picks up a bit.

Still 1000x better than most other shows. It is 'entertainment' after all.

Watching them wheel is the best part. Each new series has less and less wheeling which is why I am not as interested in watching them as much anymore.

I find some of the logistical challenges, such as border crossings and stuff fascinating, but there's a lot of fluff. I'm guessing once they get into south america it'll pick up, but that could be 4-5 episodes from now.

Their "preseason" before they went to Alaska was the best one, and will always be the best one. It's cool when you have small sponsors and can explain why you like the stuff and what it does for you, but when you have a big sponsor that gave you 100,000$ in trucks and paid for your trip? Well, your show ends up sucking if you don't know how to spin it into something good.

All episode 2 was was taco stands, being electrocuted, sucking Toyota/TRDs dick, and cutting the steering aggressively in slow motion to show of the general tires.

Don't get me wrong, I admire clay and the guys for what they've done and they're living their dream. Good for them and I support them, and I will continue to watch the episodes because of that (to a degree). But I also think clay and Scott did not do a very good job on Alaska, and I'm even less impressed so far with this journey.

I'd much rather see them be faced with technical issues, rigging shit to work and terrain challenges

I agree with a lot of what you are saying (except for the part about sucking Toyota's dick)...more driving, less fluff would make this series a lot more fun for the enthusiast crowd...

However, they've only put out 2 episodes so far...let's give them a chance and see what they produce.

Ok, I partly agree with you, and even with the one issue that they did face with regard to the shock, they could have spent time detailing how they fixed it, instead of telling us what they did after the fact.

On the other hand, and this is obviously not in reference to the taco stands you mentioned, the show feels a lot like No Reservations in that it is concerned (or at least the first season was) with the landscape and different people and cultures.

I think if each episode were 1 hour, they could have done it all.

Love the show especially since they are highlighting the 5th Gen 4Runner. The poor Tacoma is getting all the breakdown footage and that is just in episode 2.

I always come away from these types of shows wanting more in the technical field. More details on the builds, i.e with all the extra lighting and electrical add ons did they swap in an alternator with more output? Maybe they can't give away all of those secrets and details.

Also agree, it's only second episode but I was looking for more technical detail on off-roading too. They were getting close when Ted Moncure of TRD was explaining how to run the truck efficiently through the baja but I'm a noob and want to hear more exact tips. They went over the detail about when to hit the gas on the whoops too fast but that's the kind of stuff I wanted to learn about with this series.

It is pretty amazing that these guys have the opportunity to do this. Learning advanced first-aid for the field etc. Their wives get to go race in Morocco or someplace like that. What kind of money do they have for both parents to not have to work? Who is watching the kids during all of this? Why can't my life be like that? LOL!

Haha yeah that was the first thing I asked about. They are being made. Clay said they did have some issues with the prototypes they had that bushwhacker is going to fix before release

Agree on the technical stuff..... for a nerd series (youtube).... you would hope that it goes deeper.... there is still 10 ep to come tho!!

The trip is only like a month.... you can do that too!! Just take a month off of work... to a certain extend.... it is doable.... all you need is a DREAM.... and the persistence to pull that off....
