Also just to address one point some people are making, specifically that because this show is on youtube and that you're not paying, that you shouldn't complain or critique: you're absolutely wrong.

This show is monetized. Clay and Scott are getting paid. Toyota didn't give them the trucks or put those ads in the video because they're just an awesome company. They're selling ad space, which means it's a business. As such you are paying, every time you watch someone is getting paid via youtube. As such, as the audience, you have a right to give feedback or complain.

Your SR5 is more than capable. I have an SR5 and haven't had any issues with it. These machines are very capable with their ATRAC and 4-Low.

That's what I keep hearing, and i do believe it. I am guessing that Toyota, to get the sponsorship message across, donates their 'most off road capable' model to something like this so it can be showcased. But I would love to see something like this, or the Baja races, use a simple SR5, build it to its necessary usage point, and roll on that platform...just to show "hey, look at what THIS model can do too" ya know.

Be that as it may, I do also understand that an SR5 is about 80% of what a Trail is anyway...

Call it ownership pride i guess. like when you want to see your kid score the winning run/point/TD/goal...yeah, youre proud they are out there playing, but to see them score is a nice touch too.

Virtually nothing a TE can do that a SR5 won't.

A lot is also about the skill of the driver too. Typically, the car is more capable than the driver.

Just like how many 911 drivers can drive to the limit of that car!?

Some of the features on our 4Runner is just to make it "easier", "dumb it down" or "more comfortable"....... rather than "more capable"....

As many veterans around here stated, the ONLY thing you really need to upgrade is the "tires", and from that point on, it is how you pick your trails/lines and your driving skill.

Is there a comprehensive build thread someplace for these 4runners? I watched the build vids, but I'd like some info on things they didn't talk about. What sliders are they using? Are there spacers used with their wheels/tires? Etc.
