Those bridges would have made me nervous. Have any of you ever crossed gaps with a pair of logs? It's actually a lot easier than you might think. We include it as part of one of our truck competitions. Once the weight of the truck sits on them, it's pretty stable. Of course slippery jungle logs might be a different story. But I'd be pretty inclined to want to just cut my own if I could. I usually carry my little baby stihl 171 if I'm going into places I might need it.

Seeing the equipment that these guys are carrying, they would have to "trade off" whether to bring something like your "stihl 171" chainsaw with them....

Just need the right sponsor! I'm not sure I'd carry one myself on this trip. Chain saws are smelly leaky tools I wouldn't want in the cab, and a prime theft target for a lot of the places they went. I imagine they have a thousand lbs of camera gear you never see that take up a bunch of the storage space. OTOH I'd 100% have it going to Alaska. Given enough time a bow saw can work pretty well too.

I enjoyed the last Episode. Seems like the Darien Gap is a mysterious place that no one crossed it in a long long time.
I am planning my very own overland expedition. I want to ship out of 4runner to Australia for a 2 month adventure through the Simpson Desert, Fraser Island, etc.
I'm pretty sure Expedition Overland will one day do an Australian Expedition. It would be awesome if I can tag along with them. I'm willing to delay my expedition a year or two if I can tag along with them. Does anyone know if that is possible? I can pay for my own shipping, food, fuel, etc. It would just be awesome to have the same minded folks on an adventure together. I do not need to be with them for the entire trip but a portion of it would be awesome.

Yes I have, shipping cost will be around $4300-5000. That is round trip. This includes all dock feels. Quarantine cleaning fee, etc. Vehicles coming to Austraila have to be extremely clean. Any leaf or dirt they find under or anywhere on the car they will immediately take it to quarantine and charge your $300 for cleaning.
The cost will be split into two people. Since I will be traveling with a friend of mine.

I am pretty sure if you pay a hefty "sponsorship" fee, then that can be "discussed".

I would need the rental vehicle to has the following. , roof rack, roof top tent, winch, front bull bar, recovery gear, refrigerator, snorkel, lifted, rear bumper for jerry cans and spare wheel mount, etc, etc. Pretty hard to get a rental that has all that. It would be better to by a used vehicle.
Taking your own vehicle on an expedition like this makes for a much more memorable fun experience. When I am done with the trip I will have tons of photos with the rig. I will probably blow up one of the favorite pictures and hang it in my room and garage. Having a rental would make the trip less special IMO. I'm building my rig for off road overland travel, I sure want to use it for that purpose. Be it in the USA or internationally.
Not looking for a guided tour.

Clay and Kurt were at Expo east, they were very laid back and good guys. I walked by multiple times and chatted with each of them, keep in mind the weather was miserable with the crazy rain. They stood out there the whole time, answering questions, taking photos with folks and putting a happy face on hour after hour. Those guys are dedicated...
I gave some balanced feedback on the episodes, Kurt discussed some of the back story and it all made more sense. Look forward to South America!
