Extended Warranty for 4Runner is cheap!!!

So my 4Runner is approaching 100K miles and I am considering buying another extended warranty beyond my Toyota deal.

I got a quick quote from www.carwarranty.com and could not believe my eyes: $1100 for another 5 years / 100K miles. That is unbelievable. I will probably call them and go ahead with the purchase.

I also got a quote for my mom's 2001 cadillac eldorado with 100K miles and the maximum available coverage was 2 years / 25K for $4000. You know what that means... 4R rules

If anyone is considering driving their 4R long term, this is definitely worth it.

Be very careful with those third party companies that offer warranties. Read the fine print. Research the company as you don't want to pick one that's out of business before your warrranty expires...

Good point. I'll check it out some more.

Other than the great price I also love that the cadillac warranty is 4x more expensive for a quarter of the coverage. That just reinforces what we already know: 4Runners are awesome.

Hey man, I went to the website and saw that its jsut another alias for warranty direct. Ive heard good things about them from buddies who have STOCK vehicles.

I tried getting a quote and after reading the fine print, I found that if you modify your vehicle with anything.... They have the ability to drop your coverage. Some examples that can void your coverage are larger tires, and lift.

I've had extended warranties on my last 6 cars. 5 thru APCO Easycare and 1 thru Honda (wife's Odyssey). Cars covered were 1989 Merkur XR4Ti, 1993 Pontiac Bonneville, 1996 Mercury Villager, 1995 Chevy C-1500 Truck, 2001 Dodge Dakota QC Truck and 2002 Honda Odyssey.

First thing to note is that cost of warranty paid for itself (multiple times over) on all but one - the Odyssey. Not enough broke.

Second, I much prefer the APCO to the Honda warranties because they pay no matter who fixes it. Honda makes you take it to the Stealership. APCO never denied paying a single thing. Honda did.

Third - I think I keep my cars in better shape when I have it because I have no concern over cost or being without a loaner.

Fourth - my parents bought an APCO warranty that replaced the engine in their Cadillac Catera to the tune of nearly $10k last year without hardly a word.

Don't be scared by APCO because they are now owned by Ford. This has been the case for many years now and I continue to have no problems. You will have to find the APCO # on the net and contact them to get a dealer name in your area to buy from.

OH - NO - I do not work for them, just have been extremely pleased by them for years. I am jsut about to buy another warranty on the 4R as you have to do it I think by 1000 miles before your factory warranty runs out. Your post came at a good time. I was just starting to wonder if cost would be high or low.

FYI - APCO info can be located at www.easycare.com. Also I noticed they bought themselves back from Ford in April of this year and have continued with the same managment as before the Ford era.
