It's all good. And yeah, I agree with what you said about EWs. With as much electrical and sensors that are in cars/trucks now, I felt it was worth it if something goes out.

I am brand new to this forum and just saw references about the EW and this thread. I signed a purchase proposal and am waiting for a locate so have a couple days.

This may be a dumb question but do I have to get all my scheduled oil changes done at the dealer in order to not void my warranty? I know I have to get all the scheduled maintenance done there but I'd rather do the oil changes myself as I don't really trust my dealer's service guys for simple things.

Yeah. But I had a quote from when I first bought the 4R and I bought the warranty like 9 months later. They said there was a price increase but after I showed my previous quote, the honored it.

Marlinsfan is correct, it has to be within the factory warranty period to be able to purchase the Toyota EW.

$1,400 is not too bad of a price but still a little high. And like he said the prices can vary greatly, it's always good to shop around.

I purchased a Certified 4Runner from a Toyota dealership OUT of factory warranty, but was able to get the Platinum Toyota Extended Warranty. Maybe they weren't supposed to do it, but I have the paperwork!
And I thought I got a good deal on 6 years, 100000 miles (I generally put between 15000 and 18000 miles a year on, so the shorter time was okay with me) for around $1550.
Apparently I'm too used to paying out the nose for warranties after last getting them on a VW and an Audi
