Extended Warranty

I just purchased an 8 year 75,000 mile warranty from Scott at Acton Toyota for $695 which i thought was a really good deal. I only drive about 8,000 miles a year so the years were more important than the miles. Scott was easy to deal with and it was a quick transaction!!

I agree with you on the years vs miles. If I get say a 5 year/75000-100000 mile warranty, She would hit the years before millage. So now I am thinking about 6-7 year warranty 100,000-125,000 mile warranty. Just curtious as to what others think of the best bang for the buck. Example of both mine and my wife's driven. I have a 08 tundra with 60,000 k on it and here previous camera in 2 years only had put 22,000 miles on it.

We don't travel that much anymore since my 3 year old little girl was born! To be honest I not even worried about problems with the motor, transmission, etc... I am just concerned about the nav. System along with a/c on her 4runner. When I bought this for her I choose the nav. System and to be fully loaded. While I thought long and hard about about a limited model but just could not make sense of getting the limted at the time. So in my opion I got the bet SR5 available.

I just hate that I was lied/mislead to belive that getting ext. warranty would be the only way to get 2% which thanks to everyone was exposed for what it was a incentive to get me to buy the ext. warranty. Again I called and spoke to fin. Guy to get his reason for doing so and he did come clean that the only reason that he suggested the ext. warranty was due to buy down. I feel that once they agreed to let me get some work done to my tundra at cost that I will still business with them. All in all still a good dealer but I was taken advantage of and since they have made it right. I cancelled the ext. warranty And still keep
My 2% apr.

I am going to get back up with Jerry after all this gets resolved and buy extended warranty from him before prices increase. The comment was made was it one of the those guys up north that offers ext. warranty my dession for canceling. I said yes and no. It simple i told him if you were up front with me from the word go then we wouldn't even be having this decision. He said he was sorry and fully understood where I was coming from. Again thanks for all the help and feedback. Please advice me on the best warranty. The best bang for the buck!

"The best warranty for the Buck" really depends on how many miles you are going to put on the vehicle. My previous car was 8 years old and only had 65,000 miles when i traded it in. Knowing that i wont get to 75,000 miles in 8 years was what sold me on that package. If i could have done 9 years 75,000 miles i probably would have done that. Anyway, this is the first vehicle that i have owned that was "fully loaded" it kinda has me concerned about the Navigation and other potentially expensive repairs. I read alot about extended warranties before i purchased mine and many people dont believe they are necessary. However, to me, the $700 is worth my piece of mind and unexpected costs down the line.

Acton, Massachusetts? i just got quotes for the same 8/75k Platinum from Jerry and Troy for $709. my 3/36k expires in ~6 weeks.

Just finalized a warranty transaction this morning with Spencer at Acton Toyota, Littleton, MA. 7yr/100K for $840...no sales tax. Toyota Platinum $0 deductible. Great to deal with and he beat the other prices I found. They were closing out the month yesterday and dropped it down to $840, so the sale would make the month-end.

Just pulled the trigger on the 7yr/100k ZERO deductible with Jerry. Hope that package is the right one. I have 33,700 on my 2011 T4R that I bought 9/28/2010.

I have a friend that just bought a new corolla, and paid (eek!) full price for an 8yr/125K warranty (I think she said $1900). She financed through TFS, can she cancel this warranty, and buy it elsewhere for less, and have TFS adjust her payment?

Yes, according to TFS you can cancel and repurchase a warranty as many times as you can as long as you are still current on an existing warranty.

As far as adjusting the payment... I am not too sure. I've heard that the difference in amount will be applied to loan.

^ The payments will be the same, unless she "re-finances"
the term of payments will just be shorter by a few months.

She can also negotiate with the dealership she bought from to giver her the difference in service credit if she can negotiate that?

I paid about $1400 for the 8 year/125,000 mile platinum warranty from Aubrey Alexander Toyota in PA. They quoted me about $2500 but I referred them to this thread and 10 min later they called back with the above price.

I paid the same, if you call the dealership they should be able to work something out with you. All it is, is base price plus whatever "points" the dealership wants to charge.

Just bought a 7 year / 125 K mile warranty for $1169 from Jerry Johnson of Midwest Toyota for my 2011 T4R LE with 30133 miles on it. An excellent buying experience, clear information provided and what a courteous guy! Definitely recommend that other people approach him if they want to buy the extended warranty.

I'm at 34020 miles on my 2011 Limited so I talked to Jerry Johnson yesterday evening and had him finalize a 7 year 125,000 miles Platinum Zero Deductible Warranty for me, cost was what everyone said $1,169.00 in full. Great guy, good conversation and really a smooth transaction, he also explained lots about the warranty, all's good in my book.... :thumb3:

Might check prices with Spencer Dalence of Acton Toyota in Acton, MA. I bought a 7yr/100K Platinum $0 Ded Wty for my 2012 LE for $840 from him a couple months ago. Not sure how much the 7/125 would be but he did beat Jerry's price on the 7/100...

Thanks for the info jf, but I'm straight with Jerry. :biggrin2: :high5:

I've sent my local dealer (where I purchased vehicle) in Naperville, IL the link to this thread. He originally offered me a 5 yr/ 100,000 mile warranty for $2,295.
That is extremely high compared to the prices listed on here.
He said he cant match the prices listed on this site.

What do you think i should do? does it matter where you purchase your extended warranty? i do want to have my vehicle serviced at the Naperville, IL location.

any suggestions are appreciated.
