NoDak, who did you contact when you called the other dealers? I have already contacted several dealers regarding the 4runner, would I work with those same reps even if I'm not buying a vehicle from them?

since Toyota is clamping down hard on out of state sales of Ext Warranty's I went with another local dealer (granted the next nearest is 106 miles away, then get progressively further away up to 450 miles away). I called several in state Toyota dealers, but this guy was the first to reply via phone. at first he was about $300 better than my local dealer but I haggled with him and was just above the JJ pricing I was quoted back before his fiasco with Toyota. I was willing to go about tops $200 above JJ's pricing since that would be my cost I would incur roughly if I found someone out of state to go get one.

and since they want proof, I will be driving down next Saturday so they can verify and I will be bringing the odometer paperwork from the daughters rav4 we just bought. the paperwork will be ready Saturday when I go pick them up and pay for it.

I was contemplating going with the 2 year service and shopping for a good deal on EW....Then NoDak was saying the 2 year service is crap....So with that being said I was thinking maybe I should go with a remote start. I saw a few people say they paid a little over $1000 for toyota's EW...What do you think about that?

I'm looking to buy a warranty in the next 45 days and the Atlanta dealers are giving me high prices. Also, is there anyone in particular you are working with at the Athens dealership?

I bought my 4runner from Heyward Allen Toyota of Athens. I got my extended warranty for $1000 from them. The only reason I got it that cheap was because they promised delivery of my 4runner within a week and I still dont have it. I wont get it until July 9th....So I went in and had a chat with the New car sales manager Jerry and he was willing to make it up to me by selling me the extended warranty at their cost ($1000)...I can guarantee you that they are still making money selling it to me for $1000. They intially quoted me somewhere in the neighborhood of $2800 the day I bought my 4runner and was not willing to negotiate. You can give them a call but I would be surprised if you could get it for less than $2000. Good luck!

well that depends on which one you get. at 8/125 that's prob there cost.

if its 7/100 they are still making at least $100 since I know you were able to get it at $889 and that was still making a profit.

and that assuming its less than 30 days old. as the years/mileage adds up, the price goes up until you hit the cap at 3/36.

now finding someone to sell a 7/100 at $889 within your state is the hard part, as you move out of state it gets easier. for me the $200 over the baseline was acceptable for a dealer to make money to save me the hassle of trying to get one out of state, and I did have someone line up, but it evens out. $889 and I spend about 200-300 to go get it, or pay local for the difference.

and some will refuse to budge, but I don't blame them since that person boss has a line they cant cross. I ran into that, but I had a plan B and I resorted to it since plan A refused to budge. someone sells one and make a little profit compared to the norm, but hey in the end he still sold one that he wouldn't have sold from outside the dealers normal market.

I went with the 7/100...They said $1000 was their cost for that....I highly doubt that....I was married to a finance manager for a few years....extended warranty, gap ins., and service plans is where the dealership makes most of their $$$

from what I remember, the .CA version is a set price regardless of dealer when you but at the time of purchase, if you purchase later, they add fee's for late purchase.

so in a sense you have a better outcome since dealers cant jack the price up or undercut other dealers, but the upfront cost is nuts.

Really is it remotely worth it? To me it is for $1k, not 2.8k. I mean we buy a Toyota for its reliability. At work we have a mix of ford and Chevy work vans and a Nissan truck. These vehicles get abused, very rarely get the proper servicing and on average we get well over 200k on them.

Vehicle will roll over the magic 60k line probably in two weeks. Is it going to blow up? Probably not, lol.

well based on Toyota.ca website the msrp for 7/160 is 3k. at least Toyota.ca is showing a msrp, in the usa we cant even get that.

As long as you purchase a Toyota Certified warranty it can be serviced at any dealership. The one I purchased from Acton Toyota is Toyota Certified, and I believe Jerry Johnson sells them as well. Just make sure you purchase a Toyota Certified warranty. I bought a 7yr/100K miles Toyota Certified Platinum $0 Deductible Wty for my 2012 LE for $840 from Acton Toyota a few months ago.

Can someone please shoot me some info on a place to buy the Toyota Platinum plan? I live in North GA. When I bought my 4runner the only warranty that the dealership offered was a Fidelity plan, which is something I did not want.

I really wish I bought one from Jerry when I had the chance...
