And a few others. Must be some smoking deals going on out there on 4Runners!!

Thank you sir!

I'm going to the Toyota dealer today with a buddy for routine maintenance on his 2015 SR5.

I'm going to try to remember to get a warranty quote from someone there to compare with the info gamester5 kindly shared with me some weeks ago.

Should be interesting.

I have never purchased an extended warranty and never will. Here is why.

I am 69 years old and have kept track of what I saved over the years of not buying warranties. I do not buy them on TVs, cars, etc. I worked over 20 years in the insurance industry.

I now have over $20,000 in my pocket to pay for any problems I have in the future with anything. I especially would never buy a warranty on a vehicle like the 4runner that has a history of reliability like the 4runner has. You are just throwing away your money for piece of mind because you most likely will never use the warranty. If your piece of mind is worth the thousands you will pay for warranties then go ahead and buy them. But don't get upset when you don't use the warranty before it runs out.

I'm about a handful of years younger than you and like you don't buy extended warranties. I think I have twice...

Once a Geico MBI policy for an Acura which I neve got to use as the part I needed to replace was not included.

The other on a home dehumidifier as I have seen nothing but trouble from most of the top rated units over the past 15 years. Cheap peace of mind in that case.

According to the poll I posted on extended warranties, about 11.5% of the respondents who have the extended warranties have used them.

I'm hoping that more folks will participate in the poll so that the data will be a more accurate depiction of reality over time.

gamester5 Hello could you please PM info on EW for 2018 4R . Thank You .

PM has been sent.

Extended warranties are just not for some people and I can understand that, but others like the security blanket and piece of mind on a vehicle that costs over $30,000.

At the price the dealers push for EW I'd pass as well but with much cheaper pricing and the piece of mind it brings, it does work for several members.

I gain NOTHING for passing on my info, just happy to help fellow forum members.

I spoke to the gal at the Toyota dealer and apparently Southeast Toyota offers some kind of 3rd party policy in this region which is not a Toyota product. The price was about $2200.00 for the 10 year policy (7 years coverage after the 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty expires).

I didn't bother to discuss any discount as I wasn't interested in anything not provided by Toyota.

Called gamester5's contact when I got home and purchased the 10/100 policy.

Thanks, gamester5 for your contribution to this community. The contact was a very nice person as well.

Hopefully we'll never need to use the policy but it's nice peace of mind.

Glad it all worked out for you Blue and I think the very same, hopefully we don't ever have to use them but just in case.... She is very nice and easy to work with.

Hi guys,

Does this warranty covers KDSS or X-Reas if I don't do any mods and keep it like is from factory?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure but you can always reach out to the contact and ask directly if those items are covered.

Not sure if this question was ever answered but I just contacted Toyota VSA customer service a few minutes ago and the rep looked up the info and spoke to a colleague to make sure and said that KDSS and X-REAS are both covered.

It's one of the primary reasons I considered the VSA to begin with.

I tried sending you a private message, but it would not send for some reason. There is no record of a sent message in my messages so reaching out to you here. Is it still possible to get a quite on the Toyota Factory Extra Care Platinum Zero Deductible Warranty.

I have a 2014 4Runner SR5 that I purchased CPO this past November 2017. The date of first purchase is 01/30/2015. I believe it is still eligible.

I appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you,

Please send info on the extended warranty. I have a 2016 trd pro with 33k miles. Thanks!

Is a vehicle that is under the certified warranty but out of original factory warranty eligible for the extended warranty?

I do buy extended warranties on some of the tech items I buy. For example on my Roomba 980 I bought an extended warranty because Best Buy is pretty awesome at replacing things if they break and you have their warranty.

I bought a 2 year warranty and it's already giving me trouble. If iRobot releases a newer Roomba before the end of the year, I'll just shift my funds to the newer model, if not, I will get it replaced.

Same for my Fitbit, I use mine religiously and they get beat to death (bumps on walls, door frames, working around the house). When they get torn up, I just go to BB and get the next gen upgrade, paying only the difference and another extended warranty. The upgrades practically pay for themselves.

But that's where it ends i.e. on smaller tech items that get used

On Vehicles, if a car gives you a massive enough problem after X number of years using it, you're better off just trading it in for a newer model or a different brand all together. For me, that is piece of mind unlike having a large under-warranty repair and staying fearful of its potential return.
