Extended Warranty

That's what I did. Cancelled my maintenance package with the stealer, I believe you have 30 days to change your mind. :banana:

Yes, you have 30 days from date of sale to cancel any ext. warranties or maint packages.

And then you can always purchase from my contact and save thousands more than likely.

I do have a question on the Toyota Care Maintenance contract. For 5 years, it does cover oil changes, replace air filters, adjust and inspect alot of stuff.

I did call the dealer to ask about the cost of the $30k service. They did say that the maintenance contract does not cover the cost of:

Replacing differential oil and transfer case oil and a few other things I can't remember. The cost of the 30K service was about $700 and the maintenance plan only covers about $100 of that.

So for the major services, 30k, 45k, 60k, most of the cost isn't covered. So is the 5 year contract really worth the money? I am beginning to think maybe not. Can you chime in please?

It covers really the bare minimum. These a list somewhere, I just can’t find it. I did the calculations and figure out it was no where near worth it for me since I do the work myself.

I would read the fine print VERY CAREFULLY with maintenance contracts. They say it will cover X amount of oil changes but then if you don't drive many miles, like myself, in the fine print it said expires in one year. So I just paid $300 for 2 oil changes?

I felt it was not worth what I paid, but for some it might work out just fine.

Most maintenance packages purchased from the finance department only cover the factory recommended services by Toyota (the maintenance schedule can be found in your owner's manual). At the 30k, 60k, 90k, what's recommended by Toyota is: oil change, tire rotation, both air filters, top off fluids, etc. Items like fluid services (power steering, brake fluid, differential) are generally not covered. Those extra services that are added onto those packages are "dealer" recommended packages.

Like with most warranties, there's always an expiration due to mileage or time, whichever comes first. So if you don't use it, you lose it. And you're correct, there's only a set amount of services that a maintenance contract will cover. I'm also curious, are you saying you purchased a maintenance contract that only covers a year worth of services for $300?? One last thing, even if you don't drive a lot, you should be bringing it in by at least the time frame. Every 6 months for routine maintenance and check-up..
