I need a quote on a 2020 TRDP for a 100k/10yr platinum.
Also the dealership told me I had to buy it at time of purchase. I told them I thought it could be bought anytime within the factory warranty and he said that was wrong. Also my dad told me it is better to buy a 10yr/100k at the end of the 3years because it would be 10 years from that point rather than 10 years from the start... so I need clarification on both of these issues.

The pressure tactic is usually that you have to buy it now! in order for them to roll the cost into the financing package. Decline the dealership’s offer and buy via [MENTION=108754]gamester5[/MENTION] .

I just had to dig all of this out to get towed, so for reference/ballparking:
I paid $1900 in 2016 on a 2010 SR5, mileage at that point somewhere in the 49,000 range, for I believe a 5 year/60,000 mile warranty. I had brought a pre-approval from a credit union with me that included a third-party warranty, so I had some leverage in terms of negotiations.
Since I've had it, Toyota has replaced:
- 2x front calipers (slide bolts were rusted such that the old ones couldn't be removed)
- Wheel bearing x2 (the same one, so I assume someone screwed up)
- Heat shield
- ABS sensor
- 4x4 electronic disconnect (they did this at the same time as the ABS sensor - I'm unconvinced that it was actually broken, but I figured it would go bad eventually so why not)
- They have it now to do a fuel injector, which is causing misfires.
AND it's only at 86,000 - I assume the time will run out before miles.
Overall I'm quite pleased with my choice.

I just stumbled upon this thread and read only few pages, so excuse my ignorance.
It will be very first time for me to buy brand new from a dealer, so I got a question: what warranty would be highly advisable to purchase at the time of sale?
I mean on top of the factory warranty that every new vehicle comes with (36000 miles or 3 years bumper to bumper and 60000 miles on Powertrain)

The dealership and your dad are incorrect
These Toyota EW can be purchased at anytime within the factory warranty.However they start from the date of delivery of the new 4runner to the owner. So if you got a 6 year / 70,000 mile EW it covers you for an additional 3 years AFTER the original factory warranty expires.

This is a question based on your usage. If you put low miles per year your better off with a higher yearly coverage and lower miles. If you put on mass miles less years with higher mileage is the way to go.
Also, don't by from the dealer unless they can match these prices, most won't or say they can't, which is BS. Make sure its a Platinum zero deducible as well.

Price will be the same, unless the contact gets shut down like what happened 5 years ago with one contact. Then I got another and used them for 2 years, then they DOUBLED the price overnight. I went and found this other contact and has been going great for over 2 years.

This might have already been covered, but what is the easiest way to cancel a warranty... I bought one from a dealership and after the fact got a quote here that is cheaper. It’s still within 30 days of purchase. Can I cancel my current one and buy a new one from the dealer on here? If so, can I contact Toyota financial and they will cut me a check or do I need to go back through the dealer who sold me warranty?

First I would contact the dealership since it's still within the 30 days and you would not be charged. Then you can purchase from the contact here.
They will take it off your balance of your financing so less money you will be paying interest on.
