Extra 12v outlet

Have a 2008 V6 2wd. Looking to add another 12v outlet, read a few write ups here. It looks like the common standard is connecting to the fuse box on the left inside driver side into the same 12v fuse slot as the other outlets. Would it work to connect to the vacant Cig Lighter fuse slot instead, so there would be a different circuit? Thoughts? Also, I have read that some have the USB tie in inside the glove box. Is that on all 4runners or just certain more technical packages(Nav. sys, etc)? Thanks for your help.

To answer half your question, you should have a 1/8" jack in the inside-front of your console storage area. I do not have a USB, but as I understand it they are on 2010 models.

2010, the 5th gen 4Runner has the USB port. Prior years, 4th gen and older did not have a USB port from the factory.

WHOA! Does the original single outlet/no cig lighter assembly pop out and the dual unit just pop in? The one site says it fits 06 thru 09.
