Took these right off of Lathrop Canyon and White Rim trail near Moab and also up at the White Wash Sand dunes north of Moab a bit.

First time out in that area and had a blast.

Might get :target: for this, but you really don’t need a light bar mounted above your rig. The bottom light bar is more than you’ll ever need. I have the X6S from Extreme LED on my C4 bumper and the few times I’ve had it on, it lit up the entire trail perfectly fine. Great company to do business with, received my package a couple of days after ordering.

Do you think there is an advantage to having the option of higher lights though (even if you're not running both together)? I am currently debating this w/ my rig, whether to run something in the bumper, or on the prinsu fairing.

I haven't done gobs of research yet, but this thread is relevant to me as I am pretty sure I am going to grab one of these Extreme X6S amber/white setups.

I'll disagree with you on this.

While the x6s is nice it doesn't put out any where near as much light as my roof mounted x6 bar. Like not even close. There's two factors that play into this. The most obvious is the size difference. You can pack a lot more LED's in a 44 inch bar than you can a 25 inch. Also the x6 has bigger reflectors which allow it to throw light further. I also believe the led's are driven harder on the x6 vs the x6s (More current through the LEDs hence the higher wattage rating of 5w vs 10w).

In my experiences this past weekend, when driving through some large river washes, the x6s didn't really do much aside than give me some more peripheral light and a bit more brightness directly in front of me. I feel the x6s would work well enough for a tight trail though. On this trip the x6 did the heavy lifting and really lit the whole area up. It also threw light further down the trail for me.

In most cases the x6s will be enough but for when you really need some power nothing beats having a bigger big bar up top.

I agree. While I have an X6s up top I find myself using it way more than the 25" light bar on the bumper. It just throws light a lot farther.

How did you like all the glare coming off your hood? IMHO it's so bad that it almost negates any lighting advantage you get from a roof mounted bar. I took mine off after the first trip and opted to invest in powerful bumper mounted lights.

To be honest the wind noise is pretty problematic. I remove the bar and throw it in the truck for the highway legs of the trip. When we got to Moab I tossed it back up there. Luckily it's only two bolts and the power plug. Takes about 5-10 minutes to put up and take off. Not the most convenient thing in the world but it's better than listening to the howling and whistling.

As for mounting it, I drilled two holes into one of my Prinsu rack crossbars. Then I mounted that cross bar directly behind the fairing on the lower mounting position. I had to use two aluminum blocks as spacers to get the bar at the right height. It's really solid and doesn't vibrate at all. I'll throw some pictures up if I can manage to find any.

Extreme led plug

I just installed my light bar and it looks great. The only thing is now there’s I slight high pitched whistle when I hit 50mph+?? I think it’s coming from the connector underneath the rack for the light bar. I was thinking about eliminating that plug and splice the wires together straight to the spod. Anyone else had that problem? I would think it’s just a positive and negative coming out of the light bar, right?

I have rigid radiance amber pods in my lower grill wires to the stock fog wiring and oedro led’s in everything else. I could still add a 20” bar to my upper grill but I don’t think it is necessary. (Upper right is low beam, upper left is low/high, bot right is drl/markers, bot left is low/rigid

Yep, you can bypass the plug if you'd like. Not sure if you have an X6/s series or not. These have 3 wires...one negative and then 2 positives, one each for the amber and white light sets. If it's not an X6/s then, yes, there is just a positive and a negative.

You can then wire directly to your sPod!

Sometimes this is caused by the small distance between the light and the rack. It's like blowing air through your mouth...if you mouth is open wide, no whistle...but close down the lips....bingo...whistle

Some folks have had good luck with filling that gap in, typically with adhesive backed door weather strip from home depot.

That's a good idea. When I stick my hand up through the sunroof I feel like the majority of the air is being forced through that small gap between the crossbar and the light.

I'll try to seal that gap this weekend and see how it plays out. :thumb:

X6S wiring with OEM switch

Anybody know how to wire up the X6S? 25” white/amber combo

Comes with two rocker switches configured as follows:
Red blue black
Red white black

I plan to use two OEM style switches with the following
Black, red/yellow, red/yellow, green

Done it before with a single switch bar with the following
Black to black
Red/yellow (next to black) to fuse tap
Red/yellow (next to green) to blue
Green to white

X6S has four wires - red white blue black

Any help would be appreciated. Switch wire photo for reference.

The blue wire controls the clear and the white wire controls the amber. The original setup with two switches allows you to have just one color on or both on. If you're going into a single switch, you would just connect the blue and white together.

So tried to set it up as follows with no luck-

Switch one
Black to black
