Extremly rough ride - looking for some input on a remedy (shock & spring discussion)

As you see in my signature, in the rear I'm running OME 2906 / 60027 w/1.5" spacers. I don't want to talk about how I arrived at this combo, just solutions.

I've had enough of the super stiff rear end. I'm going to change the shocks and springs.

My question is: If I could only change one, which would have the most effect?

I'm thinking the shocks. I'm also thinking something that can handle the current 3.5" lift but can go up to 5" in the future.

My recommendation: lc 8 wraps and bilstein 5100's 33-187174.
That's what I and a lot of people run in the rear.

Man, the heavy duty shocks AND springs? You crazy.

I'd replace the springs first, but even with a softer spring those shocks are valved to be carrying some heavy loads and will tend to be pretty stiff.

What's your intention here? You just want a nice ride? Do you plan to add a bumper to the rear? How much gear do you carry? Etc...

The spacers are what's killing it. You don't need that much lift to run 265s anyway, ditch 'em and you'll improve the ride characteristics three hundred kabillion percent. No shock or spring change needed.

Really? That hasn't been my experience at all with REAR spacers. Front, yes. A good, free, option though.

The issue I see is that he's running coils in the rear with a 220lb spring rate and some THICK coil diameters. Unless he's carrying a bunch of weight, there's no reason for that. Those things can probably hold more weight than my 861s.
[MENTION=82154]GSPRunner[/MENTION] will have some LC Coils for sale soon, I imagine. And I think I still have his 5125s in my garage. That'd be a nice little setup, if you decide to go that route.

You want to go up to a 5" lift? Thats really high for a 3rd gen, and will require a lot of additional parts to do it right. You cant even do 5" in the front with the stock control arms.

And the ride will generally get worse the higher you go, not necessarily because of the coils and shocks, but because of the angles on the control arms, ball joints, cvs, tie rods, and end links.

My vote would be used 7 or 8 wraps and some new LC OEM tokico shocks. Rides like stock. Flex like not other and not to pricey at all.

I find the 2906s ride pretty good in mine, I have paired them with Bilstien 4600s. This combo has been nice from the start in the rear, although I usually carry 50-100 lbs. in the back. I have no spacers.

I have been having more trouble with 99 talls and 4600s in the front being too stiff though. I blame it on my 4cyl, 5spd, no AC, no armour = light.

Hey man, sorry to jump off topic but are you interested in selling those 5125's? Just a quick question...
